CommentLuv-increase website traffic and comments

CommentLuv is a great newer plug-in that will help you gain more comments and also increase web traffic to your blog.
Today, as a result of going through setting up some things for driving more traffic and from following the 60 day step-by-step plan for creating TONS of targeted traffic through Social Power Linking, I stumbled across a very cool Wordpress plug-in. I thought I’d share it with you, since it may help your blog out as well.
The plug-in is called CommentLuv, and it works by searching out a commentators RSS feed on his/her blog. If no default feed is found, it will attempt to parse the users page for a feed link and parse that instead. It will work after the first comments start after the plug-in is installed and activated.
This will be great for giving your readers a little bit of link love by tracking back to their most recent blog post. Since it does give link love back it will also give other bloggers more reason to create posts on your blog. It will be a nice addition to this blog, right along with it being “no follow” Free.
When I had the custom Admin panel installed on my blog, we also decided to implement that people are now required to register to leave comments. The amount of comments are down, but this was done out of necessity. As a result the amount of spam has been drastically reduced. In essence, I really didn’t have a choice. Although Askimet is installed as a plug-in on this blog, the amount of spam that was still getting through because of all the “spammers from hell” on the internet was getting to be a bit much.
In a sense, many of these plug-ins help to create more of a bloggers blog. The professional bloggers out there usually incorporate many of these same features, because they know the link love will be returned, and in essence it helps to bring more traffic to their blog in the future. The reason being is all blogs using “no follow” don’t really help anybody in the search engines. You can get some traffic back by leaving comments on other blogs, but, many people will bypass commenting on blogs if they know the link back is going to be worthless.
This is also a very important reason that to take your blogging to the level that most people want, it’s necessary to have your own Wordpress blog being hosted on your own hosting account. If you are using Blogger.com, or the hosted version at Wordpress.com you simply don’t have all of this type of flexibility.

I also find that wordpress is pretty good at eliminating spam posts when you use the akismet plugin. I have no problem giving back link love if someone is going to make my blog more useful by making a worthwhile post. There’s enough to share!

Hey fak3r, I’ve had it installed about a month and a half now I’d say. I haven’t noticed any problems with it at all, unless I haven’t hit a traffic threshold high enough yet. But, I’m guessing since Jack Humphrey also uses it on his Friday Traffic Report site, that averages 5,000 uniques a day, it’s not much of a problem.

I’m new to blogging, but CommentLuv seems like an excellent idea. It both encourages commenters (spammers can still be moderated) and also keeps commenters’ anchor text clean, and rewards them with an extra back link.

Well I haven’t had any problems with it to speak of. There are a lot of people adding it now, because of it’s benefits, some very high traffic sites. I’ve never read or heard anybody complain this way about it yet. I’m sure most people don’t use a dedicated server either. Seems fine so far!

I applaud your decision to use commentluv - perhaps if you are going to make the blog posts nofollow you should consider applying the mod keywordluv - this could be a good compromise for commentors.

I use this as one of many of my link building methods, and you’re right, I simply bypass blogs using nofollow.
It’s pointless and a waste of time, unless you read a moronic comment that you must flame… other than that, don’t even bother.

I’ve noticed a huge difference in the number and quality of comments after I installed CommentLuv. Especially when people see I approve comments that are of value in both information and aren’t simply one liners that want to get links back to their site.
I would encourage anyone who has a blog to seriously consider installing the CommentLuv plugin and at least consider removing the nofollow tag. Sure you might get a few spam comments, but you can always delete these instead of approving. Remember, comments are content for your site, fresh content, and if the person leaving the comment has written something of value then it can help when the search spiders crawl your site for fresh content.

You can now leave a comment with your name as well as a keyword of your choice here and get a PR5 link back to your site! How cool is that? People pay big bucks for that and all you have to do is comment here.
