SEX-Infectious Viral Marketing Hypnotic Taboo

Sega GirlSEX….oh …..yessssssss! Viral marketing and sex is like bringing out a curse of hypnotic taboo for everyone and taking hold of their natural desires and unconscious mind before people even know what’s hit them.

Lord, forgive me for that intro…

For some people even looking at those 3 letters in the word SEX alone is enough to send shivers and take hold of their full attention. Well, sex and sales have long been known to go hand in hand. I’m not entirely sure how many years they have been using the almighty sex in sales tactics but I’m sure it goes back a good century, in one form or another.

One of the main reasons that people really aren’t aware of, is that the reason sex works so well in sales is that human beings by nature have an unconscious need for pro-creation. That’s right. The same as any other wild animal, a cat, a dog, you name it. The human race is programmed to survive. To survive, we must…well you know!

A while back when I was doing training with Lead Supreme, we were taught that by using an attractive woman, or man, depending on the type of promotion or sites you are trying to generate leads for, that your conversions on a squeeze page can go up by a HUGE percentage. With their testing it didn’t involve changing the copy, the headline, or any other parts of the page, all they changed was the addition of an image of an attractive person. It’s cold hard evidence of just how much we as human beings are influenced by our unconscious tendencies and need for survival, if you will.

When it comes to viral marketing the same principals hold true as how the suggestion of, or words that stimulate the thoughts of sex, increase a desire for the viewer to want to know more. Let’s look at a little example of a video and see how this particular video might do that. Can you imagine a product promo at the end of this? Viral marketing and sex or what?

The Female Is More Deadly Than The Male

Viral marketing with videos through You Tube and all of the other highly seen video sites can be extremely powerful for a business. However, did you know that by adding “suggestive” words to the titles of your videos, it will shoot the views of your videos up substantially. It’s true and has been proven many times over. It works for the same reasons as discussed earlier. Sexual suggestion and the pro-creatic human mind needs to find out what it’s all about.

The product that you are marketing doesn’t have to really be anything about sex at all. However by adding “suggestive” words regarding sex it increases the interest in your video. Not only that, but, by adding certain keywords with your submissions you will also garnish more views.

Lusty Ducati vs Sexy Lamborghini

Obviously, comparing a Lamborghini and it’s features against a Ducati, have absolutely nothing to do with sex, but, because of the title used in videos such as this, the views skyrocket.

As marketers, we have all heard of the now famous company in purchasing domains online “GoDaddy”. Many of their videos for promoting their service have revolved around SEX as well. Although, there isn’t any direct suggestive in the title of this video, they used the keywords “sexy marketing” so this video would show up in the search results for that particular term. This is very smart marketing on GoDaddy’s part.

Next, this video is from a band back in the 80’s. This band for the most part has been long forgotten. But, because they have the word “vamp” in the title of their name, it has also had near 360,000 views because of it. Pretty damn good for a band which time had almost forgotten.

Lastly, we will end off this post with a video which actually pertains to a very popular soap opera on tv.

The characters name is Dusty, which obviously rhymes with “lusty”. This video was featured as “Lusty-A Perfect Girl”. Now, I’m not to up on soap operas but, I believe the character is from As The World Turns.

It’s plain to see here how simple subtle changes in titles, especially when using videos can have a dramatic effect on the amount of views your video could be enjoying. In terms of viral marketing..the more views the better. If your video has powerful viral elements which would make the reader feel compelled to have others see it, the results can be great. By using some of the tips above, your video gets seen more, which is the first step of any campaign. Aspects of making something viral are out of the scope of this post, but, I’m sure you can see the power of more views.

To end off, you can begin by trying the tip above with your squeeze pages. Analyze your campaign and know who your target audience might be. If it happens to be equally shared by both female and male recipients, make two different version of your squeeze pages for testing. The results just might surprise you!

The Quest For Viral Marketing Video Greatness

Their are literally thousands of viral marketing videos being made daily right now. Every time I go on one of my little journeys to find out about some of the things working for people I come across a few videos that having laughing hysterically actually. There are more failures with viral videos than successes, and for the companies with billion dollar budgets they don’t seem to be worried about the expense as you are going to find out in the second video. Here are a couple videos this week I thought would either make you laugh, give you a few ideas, or maybe as in the first one…….gasp!

To be honest, this first one did sort of shock me a bit. I wasn’t expecting the end at all. Definitely this was the angle the IKEA company was going for. Shock always brings out the gossip in people if used wisely. Please be sure you are cleaning up your house and not leaving to many things laying around with little ones around.

This next one is amazing. I can’t believe the budget that went into making this all happen for Honda. Then again, I don’t think Honda is to concerned about their viral marketing video budget.

I’d seen this last one around for a while but rediscovered it in my search. I thought I’d leave it in for a good chuckle. I’m not sure it was intended to be a viral video or not, but with a song with this much wit it had no choice.
